49. Robin York

My current body of work is reflective of my walks on the beach, gather treasures of shells. Each shell is unique and I have tried to capture it's essence in small pastel or painted still lives. Art has always been a passion of mine with teaching strate-gies incorporated at the age of 5 when my mother overheard me directing a childhood friend how to make her picture bet-ter! I have taught art at Manteo high School for 29 years and painting, drawing and art appreciation at COA for the last 5 years. Art surrounds us every day in our lives from the mo-ment we brush our teeth with a designed tooth brush until the moment get ready to sleep in a room that we have tried to make comfortable and visually pretty. As a teacher of art I try to strengthen students' awareness of how art is interwoven in our lives daily.
